"Blue, songs are like tattoos, you know I've been to sea before... ink on a pin, underneath the skin..."
From 'Blue', Joni Mitchell, 1971
This colourway is inspired by the song 'Blue' by Joni Mitchell and is perhaps my most complex colourway to create. I really wanted to try and capture some the depth of the imagery of this song here and doing so these deep, rich and intense waves of indigo and ink wash over a turquoise sea (with hints of shells on the seashore).
Small batch hand-dyed.
100% Merino single ply yarn. This is a fingering weight weight yarn, so is similar in size to most 4ply yarns however Merino Singles have a distinctive and beautiful twist to them, allowing colours really shine on them and giving a gorgeous drape. Excellent for scarves, shawls, jumpers, socks... you name it.

Small batch, hand-dyed yarn from my little studio in Lower Hutt, Aotearoa/New Zealand. Everything, from sourcing the yarn to shipping, is done with love and care by hand. The nature of hand-dyed yarn is that no two skeins are exactly the same, creating beautifully nuanced colourways.
I source finest quality, fully traceable and mulesing-free, ethically, sustainably farmed yarns from New Zealand and abroad.
The dyes I use are made in Australia and New Zealand. They are acid dyes that are used for dyeing protein-based fibre (such as wool and silk). I take every care to use only the quantities necessary to create my colourways. This means that the dyepot is fully exhausted when the dyeing is complete.
